Here are the countries surrounding Congo: - in north: the Centrafricaine Republic and Sudan; - in east: Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania; - in south: Zambia and Angola; - finally, in west: Gabon and Angola. Congo was colonized by Belgium. Until 1883, the Democratic Republic of Congo was a property of the Belgian king, L�opold 2. In 1906, L�opold hand over the country to Belgium and it change names: it becomes Congo Belgian. It's in 1960 that the Belgians colonizers supported the richest province, Katanga, because of the mines. C'est un pays colonis� par la Belgique. Jusqu'� 1883, le Congo �tait une propri�t� priv� du roi belge, L�opold 2. En 1906, le roi c�de le pays � la Belgique et il s'appelle le Congo belge. C'est en 1960 que ce dernier devient ind�pendant. | It is a country colonized by Belgium. Up to 1883, Congo was a private property of the Belgian king, L�opold 2. In 1906, the king yields the country to Belgium and it is called Belgian Congo. It is in 1960 that this last becomes independent. That it is produced after several negotiations. Patrice Lumbumba gains the elections and becomes the Prime Minister of free Congo.
